Labor Doula
Erin is a DONA Trained Labor Doula, and has experience assisting women through labor around the world and in a variety of settings. From home to the hospital, Erin’s compassionate care and wide background can help women have the birth experience they want and deserve.
A doula is someone who provides unconditional physical, emotional and informational support to women and their families prior to and, most significantly, during labor and delivery. Doula’s do not provide specific medical advice or offer any sort of medical care, but their role has been shown in various studies to significantly improve birth outcomes for mothers and babies. When requested and appropriate, Erin will combine her acupuncture services in labor preparation and support. She has studied with Claudia Citkowitz, a New York Licensed Acupuncturist responsible for ongoing studies showing the benefits of acupuncture during labor and delivery.

Acupuncture During Pregnancy
Acupuncture can be extremely helpful for a variety of ailments that can arise during pregnancy, offering safe and natural relief during this delicate time. Morning sickness, appetite changes, digestive discomforts, back pain, ankle swelling, headaches, mood changes, anxiety, fatigue and insomnia are some of the symptoms acupuncture can successfully treat during pregnancy.
In preparation for labor and delivery, it is best to begin regular acupuncture treatments after week 36 of your pregnancy. At this time we can rotate breech or other mal-positioned fetus, alleviate pain and strengthen your body. By increasing circulation, we can help relax the muscles of the pelvic floor to promote dilation of the cervix. Unlike Western inductions, acupuncture works with your body’s natural rhythms and safely guides it in the right direction.
